Hail Hail
Hail hail the gang’s all here with their
Heads full of reefer and their bellies full of beer
Sixteen years of living the dream
We’re the pride of all our families

Hail hail the gangs all here with our
Eyes wide open and our minds super clear
We’re ready, it seems, to see what it means
To be the rulers of our destiny, all right

My friend Smitty’s got some questions
(Smitty’s got some questions)
Bout the planets out in space
And how we got here in the first place
(We got so many questions)
And what’s to come after the race
And he says

Hail hail the gangs all here with our
Eyes wide open and our minds super clear
We’re ready, it seems, to see what it means
To be the rulers of our destiny, all right

My friend Walker’s got some answers
(Walker’s got some answers)
Bout our crisis with the oil
Says we all should ride on horses
(Wild and roaming horses)
And dig our hands into the soil
(Dig our hands into the…)

Hail hail the gangs all here with our
Eyes wide open and our minds super clear
We’re ready, it seems, to see what it means
To be the rulers of our destiny, all right

Call Back
Deep in the morning I call back
Not heeding your warning I crawl back
I’m waiting for you

I got an empty feeling inside
You won’t be calling me back home to you tonight
And I cuss them neon lights, telling me
All these wrongs will somehow make it right
We’ll make it right

Deep in the morning I call back
Not heeding your warning I crawl back
I’m waiting for you

Well, I got them hobo blues
The road keeps calling me right back home to you
I could jump that old freight train or I could
pick up this phone and call you once again once again

Deep in the morning I call back
Not heeding your warning I crawl back
I’m waiting for you

Cause you’re like
Walking into moonlight lady
Don’t you want to be my baby
If you want to take me
On a moonlit ride
No I wont deny
No I won’t deny
No I won’t deny

Deep in the morning I call back
Not heeding your warning I crawl back
I’m waiting for you

Welcome to L.A.
Came here on a different train
Saw everybody in the smoggy rain and well….
Hollywood never thought Would appeal to me

Everyone is lookin to catch an Eye
Science and religion have become a lie
But I don’t guess it makes much difference to me

So hold on to country hat
Leave your boots by the back porch step
Open the door…Grandma would say, She would say…
Work hard and keep your smile
But leave the rest to be

Open your heart…
Welcome to LA

Beechwood Canyon on a Monday night
Got more love than a brotherly fight
Where all the girls and boys have time to sing
Jesus on top of the hill
See’s it all with a different will
If he were here today
He’d do the same damn thing

So Hold on to your country hat
Leave your boots by the back porch step
Open the door…grandma would say, she would say…
Work hard and keep your smile
But leave the rest to be

Open your heart
And welcome to LA

So welcome to La
We’re Singin with Angels
Late night dancin with the devil
Whatever you want to find, you will find
Welcome to LA we’re all lookin for somthin
Like late night California lovin
And a party all the time

So Hold on to your country hat
Leave your boots by the back porch step
Open the door…grandma would say, she would say…

Welcome to LA
We’re singin with Angels
Late night dancin with the devil
Whatever you want to find, you will find
Welcome to LA we’re all lookin for somthin
Like late night california lovin
And a party all the time

LATE NIGHT CALIFORNIA LOVIN
PARTY ALL THE TIME

LATE NIGHT CALIFORNIA LOVIN
PARTY ALL THE TIME……….

Heart Like A Wheel
The moon has gone behind the clouds
And now the hour’s getting late
Just like a clock that never stops
Baby I ain’t got the time to wait

And if you leave now
You’ll never find out about

This heart like a wheel is rolling
I can’t control it
I’m starting to feel it turning
I can’t control it

The sun has come and i’m still up
It sure got late real early
And if that ain’t enough
I got a list full of stuff
I guess we’ll have to do in the morning

Cause if you leave now
You’ll never find out about

This heart like a wheel is rolling
I can’t control it
I’m starting to feel it turning
I can’t control it

Do you wanna come along
(I can’t control it)
Cause I don’t wanna go alone
(I can’t control it)
Do you wanna come along
(I can’t control it)

This heart like a wheel is rolling
(rolling, rolling)
I can’t control it
I’m starting to feel it turning
(rolling, rolling)
I can’t control it

The moon has gone behind the clouds
It sure got late real early

See Her
When you see her tell her I say hello
Doctor Yong told me so that’s what he said
In the morning nighttime afternoon
everywhere I call for you that’s what he said

And if he ever makes it back due to certain situations
He’ll be calling for the nighttime to last
And if he never makes it back due to certain destinations
He’ll be calling for you on the day of his death

When you see her tell her I say hello
Doctor Yong told me so that’s what he said
In the morning nighttime afternoon
everywhere I call for you that’s what he said

And if he ever makes it back due to certain situations
He’ll be calling for the nighttime to last
And if he never makes it back due to certain destinations
He’ll be calling for you on the day of his death

Cause you can
Take control of your life
And never forget to ask the question why
Lord, you might think that you are in a dead end mama
Right around the corner the street begins again so you can

Take control of your life
And never forget to ask the question why why why
Lord you might think that you are in a dead end mama
Right around the corner the street begins again

When you see her tell her I say hello
Doctor Yong told me so that’s what he said

Old Piano
She was twenty-one
Just moved from Tennessee
And I was feeling young like I knew
All the right things to say
But silence got a way of making you mumble, stumble
Over the reasons I thought she should stay

And I’ve been open hearted searching for a person who
Might feel the same way

She’s been playing me like an old piano
All the notes out of key
But it still sounds good to me

I can feel the weight
Of your breath on my cheek
And I been told the darkest hour
Is just before the morning breaks
(I know it is)

She been playing me like an old piano
All the notes out of key
Somehow singin the right words
Over the wrong melody
But it still sounds good to me

She been playing me like an old piano
But it still sounds good to me

So I’ll just drive you home
And watch the tail lights as you leave
And think of all the things that I coulda said
that might have made you stay with me

And stop playing me like an old piano
All the notes out of key
Somehow singing the right words
Over the wrong melody

She been playing me like an old piano
She been playing me like an old piano
She been playing me like, playing me like, playing me like
But it still sounds good to me
Yeah it sounds like a symphony
Yeah it still sounds good to me
It sounds like a symphony

101
Driving through the rain
Heading back to Carolina
I felt my pain
It longed for mountain water
I can feel the comfort of the
Steering wheel and tractor trailers
Headlights roll across the highway
Takes me back to open places

Down the 101
Heading to Topanga Canyon
I had my fun
Now it’s time for a warm companion
I can feel the comfort of the
Long blond hair and sweet caressing
Kiss me on the cheek and it just
Takes me back to open places
Takes me back to open places

I’ll be there for you
Will you be there for me
You hit the dance floor when I got up
To get a drink
You’re amazing lady I know
I’m a little bit crazy

Driving through the rain
Heading to Topanga Canyon
I felt my pain
It longed for a warm companion
I can feel the comfort of the
Steering wheel and tractor trailers
Headlights roll across the highway
Takes me back to open places
Takes me back to open spaces

I’ll be there for you
Will you be there oh there for me
You hit the dance floor when I got up
To get a drink
You’re amazing lady I know
I’m so lazy lately I know
You’re amazing lady I know
I’m a little bit crazy

Driving through the rain
Heading back to Carolina

Jump the Ship
Coming to you fast from sea to sea
Chock full of life and loyalty
Love your smile you’re hysterical
Beautiful individual
Whoa it’s feeling pretty magical
Whoa it’s feeling pretty magical

Digging the feel of this atmosphere
Loving the breeze and the salty air
Missing your smile it’s unbearable
Savoring the residuals
Whoa it’s feeling pretty magical
Whoa it’s feeling pretty magical

Jump the ship on starboard
Swim the world to your shore
And it’s the most amazing day in all my life

I’ve seen it all i’m a traveling man
Setting my course to your glory land
Loving your ways you’re hysterical
Beautiful individual

Whoa it’s feeling pretty magical
Whoa it’s feeling pretty magical

Jump the ship on starboard
Swim the world to your shore
And it’s the most amazing day in all my life
It’s the most amazing day in all my life

She Really Does It For Me
Oh she really does it for me
Yes she does, yeah she does, yeah she does

At first I thought I might
Find someone else
But now I know
I was only Fooling myself

Oh she really does it for me
Yes she does, yeah she does, yeah she does

I thought if she wanted to go
Then I would let her
But now I know I’ll never find
No one better

Oh she really does it for me
Yes she does, yeah she does, yeah she does

I finally found the real one
I finally know she gonna do me
Like nobody else has done

Oh she really does it for me
Yes she does, yeah she does, yeah she does

Rise Up
Every time I look at you it always seems to make my body weak
No explanation for the act it’s simply something that I feel
What type of man do I need to be to make you stay the night
Just try your luck with me and maybe you and I can strike a deal

Put a little love in it
Put a little faith in it
Put a little hope in your heart

Bought a couple tickets to a show some friends from home came out to play
Invited you on Sunday but you didn’t call me back til yesterday
Got so excited when you called I stuttered over every word
Said you couldn’t go because you had to wake up early for the work

Put a little love in it
Put a little faith in it
Put a little hope in your heart
Rise up and let the sun shine down on you

Brothers, Sons and Daughters
Lisa at the Five and Dime
Would sell her heart so her eyes could shine
Cause everyone here they just want to be loved

You ask me for a buck and change but hell
You don’t even know my name
Everyone here they just want to be loved

And the mountains have seen it all….

If the heavens up in space collide
And the moons subside the waters
Bring a happy place to my baby and bride
And all of their brothers, sons and daughters

All dressed up and no where to go
This currency has taken my soul
Everyone here we just want to be free

Power takes it to another place
The captain calls to start the race
Everyone here we just want to be free

And the mountains have seen it all…….

If the heavens up in space collide
And the moons subside the waters
Bring a happy place
To my baby and bride
And all of their brothers, sons and daughters

The papers keep on rollin in
Straight as the crows fly high
Depression is setting on the western city skies
And the mountains have seen it all
Kingdoms rise and fall
Riches will be changin hands
Everything known to man
EVERYTHING KNOWN TO MAN……

If the heavens up in space collide
And the moons subside the waters
Bring a happy place
To my baby and bride
And all of their brothers, sons, and daughters

Bring a happy place
To my baby and bride
And all of their brothers, sons and daughters

Pure Mountain Angel
The boy he was a drifter
A pure mountain angel
And the life he was living
Was harder than hell
And the song that he was singing
Made you feel like a stranger
Way back in the holler
The old folks are home

Singing hidee hay let the walls tumble in
Wont you take me back sallie
I’ll sing it again
Singing hidee hay let the walls tumble in
Won’t you take me back south
I’ll sing it again

The boy he was a drifter
A farmer and a singer
He had stories to tell
But he kept them to himself
Cause he knew that nobody
Would understand the anger
He has for this living of concrete and wealth

Singing hidee hay let the walls tumble in
Wont you take me back sallie
I’ll sing it again
Singing hidee hay let the walls tumble in
Won’t you take me back south
I’ll sing it again

He can hear the thunder start soft like a whisper
Then, shatter the mountainside
The sky was black as winter
Trees began to splinter
Wind scattered them far and wide
But he’ll make it back home alive
He’ll make it back home alive
He’ll make it back home alive
He’ll make it back home alive

Singing hidee hay let the walls tumble in
Wont you take me back sallie
I’ll sing it again
Singing hidee hay let the walls tumble in
Won’t you take me back south
I’ll sing it again

Them Jeans
It’s them jeans baby
Red, white, and blue baby
It’s them jeans baby that’ll make you wanna comb your hair

I been waking up every morning
with the thought of you in them pants so tight, last night

It’s them jeans baby
Red, white, and blue baby
It’s them jeans baby that’ll make you wanna comb your hair

South of the border they call them pantalones
But they don’t wear em down there like they do today
In the USA

It’s them jeans baby
Red, white, and blue baby
It’s them jeans baby that’ll make you wanna comb your hair
It’s them jeans baby
Red, white, and blue baby
It’s them jeans baby that’ll make you wanna comb your hair
It’s them jeans baby that’ll make you wanna comb your hair
Oh yeah I do
It’s them jeans baby that’ll make you wanna comb your hair

The Bad Times

Afraid of destruction
Doom got you down
Searching for disaster on the dark side of town
With a smile on your face
And a pistol in your pocket
Don’t let the bad times get you down

Don’t let the bad times get you down
Don’t let the bad times get you down
When all the world’s a stage
And you’re stuck standing center
Don’t let the bad times get you down
When all the world’s amazed
That we’re still standing center
Don’t let the bad times get you down
Don’t let the bad times get you down
Don’t let the bad times get you down

Silver Lining

Last night the world got darker
Searching for something that I never found
I woke up in your apartment
The way I got there I don’t know how
I’m the hazard light that’s blinking
You’re the reason I can’t stop drinking
I seek peace I am done with fighting
I see the silver-the silver lining

Woah ooh ooh oh oh the silver lining
Woah ooh ooh oh oh the silver lining

On the road to my departure
It’s tough to walk on shaky ground
The flight was long and the landing harder
But you were there as I was coming down
It’s not luck it’s a matter of timing
It’s not love but it’s satisfying
I seek peace I am done with fighting
I see the silver – the silver lining

Woah ooh ooh oh oh the silver lining
Woah ooh ooh oh oh the silver lining
Woah ooh ooh oh oh the silver lining
Woah ooh ooh oh oh the silver lining

Bird on The Wing

Be the type that laughs
All night when you get it right
Not the one bumming all day long
When you get it wrong

It’s what you said late last night as you caught your flight
That left me in the parking lot ‘til dawn crying
OOOO OOOOO
You’re my bird on the wing
I’ll watch you as you fly away

It’s a dream when you come to see me in all these places
Though at times it seems that the scenery rarely changes
Hotel drapes block out the sun’s rays yeah
Been up all night
Lost in your embrace

OOOOoooo
You’re my bird on the wing
I watch you as you fly away
OOOO OOO OOOO OOOOO
You’re my Bird on the wing

OOOOooooo
You’re my bird on the wing
I watch you as you fly away
OOOO OOO OOOO OOOOO
I’ll watch you as you fly away
I’ll watch you as you fly away
I’ll watch you as you fly away
I’ll watch you as you fly away

Island

I live on an Island deep inside my mind
I like it when you visit me there from time to time

mmmmmm, hmmmmm

You bring me a gentle breeze
A bucketful of good times
You dance so effortlessly
Between your world and mine

I want someone different from me
I want I want someone
I want I want someone
I want I want someone
I want

I live like a little kid
In clouds way up high
And memories from miles away
Imagination running wild

I want someone different from me
Deeper than an endless ocean
Heavy metal love devotion
Easy to please
I want I want someone
I want I want someone
I want I want someone
I want I want

I want someone different from me
Deeper than an endless ocean
Heavy metal love devotion
Easy to please

Appalachian Hilltop

Appalachian Hilltop Rolling
Gather your seeds to be sown
Appalachian Hilltop welcome me home

These old patchwork hilltops
Reminding me of what I am and what I’m not
And the coal mines started closing 20 years ago
People started moving out
Sick and tired of living from hand to mouth
But praying
Diamonds come from Coal

Appalachian Hilltop Rolling
Gather your seeds to be sown
Appalachian Hilltop welcome me home

Talking to a wiseman
Walking through the fields of my father’s land
Don’t judge son
Forgive every stone you throw
Say goodbye to the mom and pop
We’re living in the age of the one stop shop
But pray now that diamonds come from coal

Appalachian Hilltop Rolling
Gather your seeds to be sown
Appalachian Hilltop welcome me home

This mighty river is flowing
With a spirit that will never grow old
Appalachian hilltop welcome me home

Oh we worship on Sunday
Try to raise our kids up the right way
We’re up at dawn planting the fields of gold
And all the little girls want a white dress
So they can see their daddy in his Sunday best
Oh they’re praying that diamonds come from coal
Appalachian Hilltop Rolling
Gather your seeds to be sown
Appalachian Hilltop welcome me home
This mighty river is flowing
With a spirit that will never grow old
Appalachian hilltop welcome me home
Appalachian Hilltop welcome me home
Appalachian Hilltop welcome me home

Games People Play
by Joe South

Oh the games people play now
Every night and every day now
Never meaning what they say now
Never saying what they mean
And they wile away the hours
In their ivory towers
Till they’re covered up with flowers
In the back of a black limousine

La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Talking ’bout you and me
And the games people play

Oh we make one another cry
Break a heart then we say goodbye
Cross our hearts and we hope to die
That the other was to blame
Neither one of us will give in
So we gaze at our eight by ten
Thinking ’bout the things that might have been
It’s a dirty rotten shame

People walking up to you
Singing glory hallelujah
Then they try and sock it to you
In the name of the Lord
They wanna teach you how to meditate
Read your horoscope, cheat your faith
And further more to hell with hate
Come on and get on board

Look around tell me what you see
What’s happening to you and me
God grant me the serenity
To remember who I am

Cause you’ve given up your sanity
For your pride and your vanity
Turns you sad on humanity
And you don’t give a da da da da da

I’m Not Your Boyfriend

I was driving along on the backstreet of a mountain hideaway
Thinking about a destiny girl I had to let her slip away
She was more than I could handle
Surely, more than I deserve
But I’ll always choose my freedom
Please don’t wait for my return

I’m not your boyfriend, I’m not your dad
I’m not the man you think you wanna marry
Or the guy that you already had
I‘m something different
I’m something wrong
Twisted and gorgeous
Everything you want

Woke up with the need and the wanting of your taste
Fell asleep in the front seat
Another night I tried to chase
I cried out for you girl but I could not speak your name
A carousel of words I sing
Again and again and again

I’m not your boyfriend, I’m not your dad
I’m not the man you think you wanna marry
Or the guy that you already had
You say you need a loving companion
Darlin I don’t disagree
Someone you can always depend on
But it ain’t me

If I could have it all
All I’d want is you

But I’m not your boyfriend, I’m not your dad
I’m not the man you think you wanna marry
Or the guy that you already had
I‘m something different
I’m something wrong
Twisted and gorgeous
Everything you want

I was driving along on the backstreet and I
Let her slip away

Back in Your Love

I can hear your heart beating
While you’re sleeping I lie awake
There’s a distance that’s come between us
I wanna be back in your love

I wanna be back in your love
Feel it around me
It’s never enough
Let me back in your love
Let me back in your love

I can feel the hunger breeding
I can taste the night when we met
The air, the trees, the stars, they all stopped moving
The only sound I heard was your breath

I wanna be back in your love
Feel it around me
It’s never enough

In your eyes I see our world together (only me and you)
A part of you inside of me forever

I wanna be back in your love
I wanna be back in your love
I wanna be back in your love
Feel it around me
It’s never enough
To be back in your love
Let me back in your love

Pick Me Up

Don’t you know I’ve often wondered
About your state of expectation,
I’ve wandered through the lands and through the halls of many nations,

When the beating of the drum
Echoes louder than the cannon,
And the voices heard on high
Can turn the bullets, raise the banner,

I said oh, oh, oh, oh,
You are not alone.

When you’re standing all alone and hear the beating of your heart,
In a world that’s dead and gone you still wonder where you are,
Well the stars they shine above you
And the moon is on the rise,
These break ups leave you empty
Can’t keep the water from your eyes,

I said oh, oh, oh, oh,
You are not alone,

I’m just standing on the corner,
Waiting for a pick me up,
I’m just hanging on your doorstep,
Hoping that you might come through,
And I’m still waiting on a call from you,
I just won’t get,

Oh, oh, oh, it says,
You are not alone,

In the quiet desolation of a country gravel road,
In the cool exhilaration of a deep dark swimming hole,
When the air it seems stiller than the desert in July,
And you look at someone’s soul as you stare deep into their eyes,

I say oh, oh, oh, oh,
You are not alone,
Oh, oh, oh,
We have just begun,
Oh, oh, oh,
We have finally won,

I’m just standing on the corner,
Waiting for a pick me up,
I’m just hanging on your doorstep,
Hoping that you might come through,
And I’m still waiting on a call from you,
I just won’t get,

Oh, oh, oh, it says,
You are not alone,

I wait, I wait, I wait, I’m waiting
You are not alone
I pray, I pray, I pray, I’m praying
You are not alone,
I wait, I wait, I wait, I’m waiting
You are not alone
I pray, I pray, I pray, I’m praying
You are not alone,

So Sad

So sad to see you go to work today
Well I was hoping that we could hang out
So sad to see you go to work today
Well I was hoping that we could hang out

So sad to see you in your business clothes
Well I was hoping that we could stay in bed
So sad to see you in your business clothes
Oh I was hoping that we could stay in bed

It’s alright (It’s alright)
Just do what you do but come home at night
Slow on down before you open the door
And it’s all good (it’s all good)
You love me just like a professional would
With a girl like you who could ask for more

So sad to see you go to work today
Well I was hoping that we could hang out
So sad to see you go to work today
Oh I was hoping we could hang out
So sad to see you in your business clothes
Well I was hoping that we could hang out
So sad to see you go to work today
Well I was hoping we could hang out
Well I was Hoping, Hoping we could hang out
Well I was hoping, I was hoping that we could hang out

Shady River

I was walking through the Valley
Golden Valley full of life

I was driving towards the city
Towards the city of lights

I was wanting to be near you
just longing to hold you tight

Nobody gonna change our way
Nobody could feel the same
Nobody gonna make me stay away from you tonight

I was watching the fog roll in
the fog roll in from the tide

I been wanting to be near you
Just longin to hold you tight

Shady River Ocean water
Ocean water deep and wide

Nobody gonna change our way
Nobody could feel the same
Nobody gonna make me stay away from you tonight
Nobody gonna change our way
Nobody could feel the same
Nobody gonna make me stay away from you tonight

If you still want me, come and get me
I’ll see you through the night
You still want me and you still need me
Can’t you see that, can’t you see that

Nobody gonna change our way
Nobody could feel the same
Nobody gonna make me stay away from you tonight
Nobody gonna change our way
Nobody could feel the same
Nobody gonna make me stay away from you tonight
